Derrick Rose out for Knicks season with torn meniscus in knee

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

New York Knicks star Derrick Rose will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a fresh knee injury, the National Basketball Association team confirmed Sunday.

It is also worth noting that this is Rose's third torn meniscus while the latest setback will also be serving as his fourth knee injury overall.

"He will be out for the remaining five games of season", the Knicks said. With Rose ruled out for the remainder of the 2016-2017 campaign, he may have already played his final game as a member of the Knicks franchise.

Instead, Rose will go into free agency coming off arthroscopic surgery.

Prior to arriving in the "Big Apple", Rose notably spent his entire seven-year National Basketball Association career in the "Windy City" as a member of the Chicago Bulls.

Derrick Rose's season and maybe even his New York Knicks career seem to be over, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Off-court legal issues and a sudden, random disappearance threw unexpected wrenches into his season, but Rose was generally productive for the Knicks in 64 games as he averaged 18 points and six assists per night.

Rose tore the meniscus in his right knee during the 2013-14 season and also suffered an ACL tear during the 2012-13 season that forced him to miss the whole year.

Derrick Rose is done for the season after an MRI discovered a small tear in his meniscus. The Knicks sent the Bulls center Robin Lopez and guard Jerian Grant in the deal.

The Knicks point guard's body has failed him again.
