Donald Trump defends Melania and insists she is being 'so unfairly maligned'

"Melania is unhappy with how her life ended up", an anonymous family source added.

In the midst of reopening the White House for tours, she has assured that she will be preserving and continuing the vegetable garden that was planted by the former First Lady, Michelle Obama.

Acerbic New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote in a recent column that Melania should be freed-"from our expectations" of what a first lady should be.

Tzur said she didn't know she looked like Melania until a friend who's a photographer asked her to dress like the 46-year-old Melania and took some photos. "She gets so unfairly maligned", said Trump. "Don't let her smile in those photos fool you", the source said.

Melania Trump first lady misery: 'Can they tell I am gritting my teeth ...?'

She graced the front covers of numerous magazines during her career, including when Melania famously posing naked for GQ.

With the right makeup and getup, the Israel-born Tzur is a dead ringer for Trump's wife of 12 years, a fellow model.

She's also absent from the NY social scene and even some presidential events, with Donald's daughter Ivanka attending in her place.

In the end, Ivanka Trump saw herself being wrangled in to play hostess, a surrogate role that ironically the daughter of Donald Trump has come to relish. She's reportedly "miserable" in her role of First Lady and struggling to cope with the press and scrutiny that's been forced upon her. FLOTUS "feels very strongly about womens' issues, womens' difficulties", Trump said.

Melania Trump hasn't exactly been in the spotlight since the inauguration, and there may be a reason for that.

And she was spotted looking miserable at a Super Bowl party just weeks later.

Maybe this is why Melania made a decision to turn on her First Lady charm when showing Akie around Palm Beach, visiting the Bethesda-by-the-Sea church where she and Donald tied the knot in 2005?

This photo of Melania Trump watching the Super Bowl has #FreeMelania trending again. Do these pictures prove it?

Yes kids, 'Melania's First lady eau de toilete- I sprinkle a dash before mingling with high world dignitaries. But here's one clue that she's ready to start using the East Wing as bully pulpit: In tweets this week, she's been using the hashtag #Powerofthefirstlady.
