Two-Year-Old Chicago Boy Killed In Gang Hit, Cops Say

A man woman and toddler were shot while sitting in a car in the 2300-block of South Kenneth in Chicagos North Lawndale neighborhood police said

Police confirmed Tuesday they're looking at a Facebook Live video that appears to show a shooting that killed a 2-year-old boy and injured a pregnant woman. 2, was riding in a auto with his aunt, Breunna Devonte, 20 and her boyfriend, 27, who, according to police, was a known gang member.

The toddler, identified as Lavontay White, and the man each suffered head wounds and died at Stroger Hospital, authorities said.

Police said the little boy who died is the nephew of the pregnant woman who also was shot.

After about three minutes, gunshots ring out and the expectant mom can be seen running out of the vehicle. Police have stated they have promising leads in the case.

In the footage, the screaming woman appears to leave the vehicle and flee into a nearby home, where the video portion of the feed ends but the audio continues.

Rauner's office confirms a Chicago Sun-Times report that during his planned budget speech Wednesday the governor will say he wants the state to pay for 200 state police cadets over the next two years. The woman is in critical condition. He did not have the names of the people who were shot and did not immediately know their relationship to each other.

The death marked the second child who died Tuesday from gunfire. "There's no doubt in my mind that we'll find him".

The Facebook Live feature has once again caught a scene of tragedy and violence that has claimed the life of a Chicago child on Tuesday. "Our children shouldn't have to keep paying the price for our inability to hold repeat gun offenders accountable for their actions".

Police have confirmed the authenticity of the video and it is part of their investigation, spokesman Frank Giancamilli said. The city recorded more than 760 murders and 4,300 shooting victims past year.

Gang violence in Chicago has gained national attention, with 762 homicides recorded last year-almost 300 more than 2015-and over 3,500 shooting incidents. "I was promised that we would have some gun legislation in January and it's now the middle of February and it's still not here", Johnson said.
