Topshop to recall all display units following tragic death

"On attendance they found that a 10-year-old boy had suffered serious head injuries after an incident involving store furniture".

"Kaden was a loving, cheeky, energetic boy whose death will leave a huge empty hole in the lives of everybody that knew him". Kaden was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital but died an hour later.

'Kaden was a very creative boy, who loved school'. Police are treating the death as unexplained but not suspicious.

"A scene watch is in place at the Topshop store and is likely to be in place for some time".

POLICE and health and safety officers are investigating how a boy died after being fatally injured in a Topshop store in Reading on the first day of half-term.

A date for a post-mortem examination was also yet to be set.

Outside the closed shop police officers interviewed witnesses and ordered onlookers to keep moving as a large throng of people gathered outside the shutters of the multi-storey clothes shop. One of the cards reportedly read: "RIP little man".

"After treatment at the scene he was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital still in a life-threatening condition".

In a statement Topshop said: 'The Topshop board together with thousands of staff are deeply saddened by the horrific accident that occurred in our Reading store yesterday afternoon.

A Reading council spokeswoman said: "Our thoughts are with the family during this hard time".

Reading coroner's office said an inquest had not yet been opened as investigations are still under way.

Paramedics treated him in the shopping centre.
