2017's first eclipse on Saturday, can be viewed from India

However, it is possible that many viewers may not notice a dramatic effect because astronomers state that in this case the moon would just appear slightly dimmer than usual, but would bear no other sign of the eclipse.

This is a penumbral eclipse, meaning it's more of a subtle change and will only appear to stargazers as a slight shading across the moon.

Not as dramatic as a full lunar eclipse, tomorrow's penumbral eclipse will only be passing through the Earth's outer shadow. But you'll need binoculars or a telescope to see this one - it will not be visible to the naked eye.

The eclipse will be harder to see than a full lunar eclipse, but will occur during the "snow moon", or February's full moon.

Unfortunately, much of the U.S. East Coast is forecasted to be blanketed by clouds.

February's full moon is dubbed the "snow moon".

The peak time for the eclipse will be Friday evening at about 6:45 pm.

The eclipse will take place over four and a half hours - and will look even cooler because it coincides with the "Snow Moon".

Brian Kremer with Tyler junior College's Center for Earth and Space Science Education says there's a pretty good show happening Friday night, and best of all it's free.

Given its name, penumbra means partial, so this will be a partial eclipse of the moon.

The partial lunar eclipse will occur between 5:32 p.m. and 9:55 p.m.

The green comet, which visits our neck of the solar system every five years, will whiz within 7.7 million miles of Earth at a speedy clip of about 14.2 miles per second. Skywatchers should use telescopes or binoculars to see it.

Comet 45P will be the most visible a couple of hours after the eclipse, so look to the skies again about 3 a.m. ET Saturday and find the greenish-blue light with a tail.

Comet45P-also known as Comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdušáková will be making its closest approach to Earth on February 11.
