Keyboard Kimura: UFC 208 could be Holly Holm's redemption

Holly Holm will fight in the inaugural women's featherweight championship against Germaine de Randamie at UFC 208 on Saturday

"Every fight is the toughest fight of my career", she said at the media scrum.

The UFC's first pay-per-view event of 2017 is finally upon us, and it marks an important chapter in the trajectory of the sport.

While the fixation on Rousey and Cyborg is expected, it detracts from the championship fight about to take place and makes its participants appear to be of secondary importance - or tertiary in the case of de Randamie, who has been treated like an also-ran whose story isn't worth telling in advance of this contest, despite the fact she's a decorated kick-boxer with serious power and now a slight favourite with the bookies.

"She also has been named Ring Magazine female Fighter of the Year, twice in consecutive years in 2005 and 2006", states Holm's Facebook biography.

"In Germaine de Randamie, Holm is not meeting an average all rounder. You really second guess yourself a lot".

"Coming off a knockout, Ronda or anybody else - I'm not saying it's just her, it's just fighters - you come off from a knockout". This even includes her win past year over Anna Elmose.who subsequently dropped to 115 pounds, and lost, to Amanda Bobby Cooper, who had a losing record going into the bout.

The women will battle for the distinction of being the inaugural UFC women's featherweight champion and if Holm is triumphant, she will join Randy Couture, BJ Penn and Conor McGregor as the only fighters to win UFC titles in two different weight classes.

Considering Holm has more than 50 professional fights between MMA, boxing and kickboxing with over 15 years experience and has never lost two in a row before now, it's understandable why getting a win against Germaine De Randamie is so paramount. 'Maybe she'll come back in the future.

Subscribers planning to watch the fight online can simply bookmark this page then follow the "UFC 208: Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie live stream" banner below when the action gets underway in Brooklyn.

"Five years or 10 years from now I'll look back and say 'I did it.' It's too much energy wasted if you don't enjoy it".

"I have a friend of mine that fought professionally in boxing and in MMA, and she's retired three times and only then did it stick".

Here's what I think about that, ' Holm said on a UFC conference call. As it turns out, Justino was very much front-and-centre in the UFC's plans for the featherweight division. Her takedown game isn't great, but it's better than De Randamie's, so she could eat up some time with attempts and top control. "I fought a man who had 40lbs over me, and I knocked him out". If she can knock off Holm and steal a little of her spotlight on Saturday, that stardom could extend far beyond Dutch borders.

It will be the first UFC card held in Brooklyn, N.Y. The event will take place at the Barclays Center. "But I'm ready. If I fought men, I can fight Holly". She won the fight. I want them to remember everything after. "It's Holly and me fighting, not Cris, so it is what it is, I'm sorry". "With Miesha Tate, I was winning until I got choked out". My thought process is just keeping it focused on good.
