Madonna's Coming for Angelina Jolie, Adopting 2 More Kids

Pop star Madonna has filed for the adoption of two more children from Malawi it has emerged. She

Madonna will likely hear the court's decision in one week.

"The court is looking at the application now to determine whether Madonna can adopt these two children", said Mlenga Mvula, spokesman of the Lilongwe High Court.

Madonna has denied reports that she is seeking to adopt two more children from Malawi. He was not available Wednesday night to respond to Madonna's denial.

In 2008, Madonna adopted David Banda and, a year later, adopted Mercy James.

Lilongwe High Court officials said Madonna appeared before Justice Fiona Mwale.

Last July, Madonna said she would not revive plans for a $15 million academy for girls in Malawi, which was cancelled amid allegations of mismanagement - leading to her tiff with Banda.

The 58-year-old has not personally confirmed that she is undertaking the adoption process, but the news follows on from two previous adoptions from orphanages in the African country.

She's also the co-founder of a non-profit charity foundation called Raising Malawi, which is devoted to providing support for orphans and children within the nation.

And she has a son, Rocco Ritchie, 16, who she had with ex-husband Guy Ritchie.

The controversy also led Malawi's government to review its laws governing adoption from overseas to "make sure they serve the best interests of the children", a Malawian government source told the Guardian.

The charity also provides scholarships to female students, and is now building the country's first paediatric intensive care unit at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, in Blantyre.

In December, Madonna raised more than $7.5m for Raising Malawi at a benefit gig and auction at which she grabbed headlines by saying Donald Trump made her "ashamed to be an American".

But Banda was ousted in 2014 elections and the new president Peter Mutharika moved to fix relations, saying "my government has always been grateful for the passion Madonna has for this country".
