'Street Fighter V' Support Planned Until 2020

Those of you who can't get enough of the latest Street Fighter will be pleased to learn that Capcom intends to support the game until the end of this decade. "I'd be happy if we could", answered Ono.

Which is no doubt why Street Fighter overlord Yoshinori Ono has revealed that Capcom has plans to support the game for at least the next four years. Fellow producer Tomoaki Ayano added to the comment made by Ono, stating that they are adding on to the game as it goes along. "We're looking pretty far ahead..."

Ultimately though, Ono says the sales of Street Fighter V are going to decide the future.

Capcom's eSports strategy anticipates a day when gaming becomes a popular spectacle.

Capcom has been discussing the future of their most recent fighter, as rumours swirl of a new character... and perhaps even a new game.

The finals of the SF5 world championship tournament were held at the EVO 2016 event in July, and even broadcasted on ESPN2, putting the game in front of a huge audience.

Skies of Honor was released by Capcom on November 8, turning the wings of an airplane owned by the character Rashid into a fighting arena. Sure, Capcom has fresh titles on deck such as Resident Evil 7, but aside from its plans to keep tacking on materials to Street Fighter 5, the company has also openly declared it will be doubling down on existing properties by making HD remasters of triple-A games a priority. After all, it's a business first and foremost, making the generation of revenue its primary goal, and focusing on making Street Fighter 5 an eSports juggernaut could very well turn out to be a ridiculously lucrative venture. The company is already planning to release new content.
