We Finally Get Our First 'Star Trek: Discovery' Cast Member: Michelle Yeoh

Plus, Star Trek on television has always been a bit lacking in genuine action, and how great would it be if Michelle Yeoh got to show off her spectacular moves every once in awhile?

While Yeoh's role is now unconfirmed, but here's hoping that it's the series' lead character - a female Lieutenant Commander.

Actress Datuk Michelle Yeoh has been named to star in a new U.S. television series, Star Trek: Discovery, according to entertainment portal HeyYouGuys today.

For months, fans have been wondering who the new actors to join the Star Trek franchise may be, and we may now have an answer.

We haven't heard much news about the upcoming new Star Trek series set to hit CBS All Access next summer, Star Trek: Discovery, since it was announced that Bryan Fuller had sadly stepped down as series showrunner.

It's possible Yeoh will play the lead; said to be female and a Lieutenant Commander. Meyer is serving as a consulting producer on Discovery and told the site he knew Yeoh was in it during a conversation about Time After Time's Blu-ray release. Yeoh is best known for kicking ass in her roles as Bond girl Wai Lin in Tomorrow Never Dies and as Yu Shu Lien in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which she reprised earlier this year in the Netflix sequel Sword of Destiny.

Star Trek: Discovery is executive produced by Bryan Fuller with Gretchen Berg, Aaron Harberts and Academy Award victor Akiva Goldsman manning the bridge.

The pilot episode will air on CBS in May 2017 and then it will move to All Access.
