Police probing if body found in NJ is missing man

Early Wednesday morning, police received a tip as to Comunale's whereabouts when a friend of the apartment owner went to the 17th precinct and told police that they had dumped their friend's body in a New Jersey marshland, sources say.

The bedding and clothing were found outside the building, where Comunale was planning to attend a party, CBS New York reports.

A person of interest has been taken into custody, held on a suspended license charge, and police are investigating foul play, according to reports.

Surveillance footage showed Comunale, a Hofstra University graduate, entering the Grand Sutton building near the corner of East 59th Street and First Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Though the party host was not identified, sources said the guests came to hang out with the son of a well-known jeweler who lives in the building.

He lawyered up before police were able to question him, according to law enforcement sources.

Video captured exclusively by NBC 4 NY shows a man being apprehended at the scene and placed into the back of a police vehicle.

WABC-TV said a police search warrant also had recovered potential evidence, including blood, items in a garbage bag and a luggage cart. But later sources clarified that Comunale's body was not severed.

Investigators found the body of a man buried in a shallow grave in Oceanport Wednesday afternoon.

Comunale's father reported his son missing on Sunday night, while someone called 911 to report "suspicious activity" in the building that same evening.
