Trump Election Spurs 'Panic' In Local Immigrant Communities

Trump said in an interview with "60 Minutes" broadcast Sunday that he would initially focus on deporting people with criminal records or gang affiliations.

In his first interview since being announced the victor of the 2016 presidential election, Trump told CBS' "60 Minutes" that under his plan as many as three million undocumented immigrants with criminal records would be deported or incarcerated.

Earlier in the day, House Speaker Paul Ryan told Jake Tapper on CNN, "I think we should put people's minds at ease", Ryan said.

SIEGEL: That's Julie Myers Wood, former head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, talking about President-elect Donald Trump's promise to deport 2 or 3 million illegal immigrants. Almost a third of those offenses were traffic violations. "So I don't think we'll be very big on vacations, no", Trump said, ruling out a vacation for himself.

"Do you want to say anything to those people?"

In Trump's interview on "60 Minutes", he didn't expand on whether the immediate deportation of two to three million undocumented "criminal" immigrants meant his first 100 days in his office or over a longer period.

"Well, I've never commented on this, but the answer is no", Trump said.

Border Patrol agents: 18,321 agents patrol USA border with Mexico. Asked if he had anything to say to people behind these incidents, he said: "Don't do it". She and her husband fled cartel violence in Mexico in 2000. "They feel like it's coming at them from both sides".

Sitting face-to-face in his opulent New York City penthouse in the Trump Tower, Stahl pressed Trump on a number of issues including his positions on immigration, abortion, social media and even his presidential salary.

In the interview, he has also backed off on his promise to build what he called "a big, handsome wall" along the US-Mexico border.

"The one common ground that everybody is going to find is securing the border", McCarthy said, adding that Trump would still go after those "who have broken felonies".

He confirmed that he is pro-life when he was questioned on abortion rights in the country but on marriage equality for same-sex couples, he declared, "It's irrelevant because it was already settled, it's law, it was already settled at the Supreme Court".

US President-elect Donald Trump is demanding that any of his supporters who are harassing people or destroying property "stop it".

When told that many Americans were scared of his presidency, Mr Trump said: "Don't be afraid". "So this idea that all of a sudden two to three million people, poof, are going to be gone is a fantasy".

Utah has an undocumented population of about 80,000 people. "They have the right to appeal, and you've seen how backlogged the system is as it is".

Kobach is also a proponent of "self-deportation" - the theory that state and local governments can tighten immigration laws to the extent that undocumented immigrations voluntarily deport themselves out of misery. "I wanted to get his full view and I got his, you know I got a good part of his view", Trump said of his discussion with the man he once claimed was "the founder of ISIS" in a campaign speech.

"It took me six years to get a job permission", Quesada explained. It could even be 3 million.
