Gronkowski has punctured lung

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Gronkowski is believed to have suffered a punctured lung on Sunday night after the hit from Thomas seemingly left him dazed and out of breath.

It was unclear when Gronkowski sustained the injury but he missed five plays after taking a big hit from Seattle safety Earl Thomas.

Arizona's Chandler Catanzaro overcame his problems on clutch kicks this season and slotted a 34-yard field goal as time expired to give the Cardinals a 23-20 victory over San Francisco.

It was chock-full of individual excellence from some of the sport's biggest names (Brady and Russell Wilson each threw for more than 300 yards; Richard Sherman recovered a fumble) as well as lesser-known-but-still-talented players (Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount and Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin each scored three TDs).

The Patriots 6-foot-6, 265-pound tight end leads the team in receiving yards (540) despite missing the team's first two games with a hamstring injury.

Gronkowski canceled a scheduled EA Sports media event today in NY, and it's unclear what it means for this week's game against the 49ers or beyond. He hit me fair and square.

Petty made his first National Football League start in place of an injured Ryan Fitzpatrick, but couldn't get much going against Los Angeles' defense. If you've ever gotten the wind knocked out of you, you know what that feels like.

"Unfortunately Gronk got rocked little bit but he bounced back and came back on it, but it wasn't because he got hit in the head".

Further truth lies in the bottom-line numbers: Overall, the Patriots have nine takeaways on the season, but with two coming on special teams, the defense has produced just seven. "I've gotta admit, I haven't had more fun just enjoying a win, really". "Honestly, we're lucky it wasn't worse than that, to tell you the truth". That's how we play. "But they just made a couple of more plays than us and that's what decided the game".

So, I went back to watch that fourth quarter field goal and, well, Carroll is kind of right about the energy level.

Although this one-yard finish didn't go in New England favor this time, it was still an exciting game to watch.
